Eager to get on with the closing party weekend Pete braved the 6am Easy Jet with his crew, which was not a pretty sight! Half of us had just got up half hadn’t been to bed! Arriving in Ibiza at 9.30am made it all worthwhile as we were welcomed by the warm sun and a clear blue sky. We wish Easy Jet would do that in the winter!
First task of the day for Pete was re-creating a brilliant photo that Pacha took in 1986 at the Monte Sol Hotel in Ibiza town, using all the balconies facing the square. A bunch of the clubs most regulars (some from the original 1986 photo) together with various dancers and staff joined Pete, Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo, Sarah Main, Claudio Cocolutto and Lenny Ibizarre for the updated version of the shot for the Pacha book (their bible!).
Then it was onto the final Mambo pre-party which was fairly lively. I don’t think we have seen dancing in San An in October before, it a was a record breaker

. There was also a spectacular fire display with a sign saying ‘Keep it Kent (referring to Pete’s home county) and two excellent fire performers / acrobats which rounded Pete’s Mambo set off with a bang!
Then the closing party itself. Can you believe it, 17 weeks have flown by!
Despite half the island nursing hangovers from the Pacha Awards (Pete’s Pure night won best artwork AGAIN ) and Danny Tenaglia the night before, Pure Pacha lived up to it’s reputation of being pure party, pure fun, with sexy music and sexy people.
Felix B from the Bassment Jaxx kicked off the evening, encouraging everyone to shake their ass to his unique style of bootlegs and funky beats while being harassed by the FHM Magazine crew to pose for photos! Next on the decks was Italian DJ Claudio Coccoluto and finally at 5:30am it was time for Pete’s final Pure Pacha set. He seemed to enjoy eve

y minute giving the crowd just what they wanted and threw in a few classics for good measure.
At the end of the night Pete was joined in the DJ booth by resident Sarah Maine with her willing him on the play one more, and one more and one more, with Pete finally ending on a cheeky bootleg he had made.
Said Pete: ‘It’s been a rollicking evening with the best ending for me of the season so far.’
Ibiza is the place that lures the best party people from around the globe in the summer and Pete wanted his night to live up to that opportunity, combining the musical quality with the glamour, with aspiration and escapism being the ambition of the night. A ‘wonderland’ for grown ups who don’t want to grow up just yet.....!
What more can we say other than it’s been a great season at Pacha and we look forward to what Pete has in store for us next year. Can’t wait!
